Tungsten 101

Blitzkrieg Bop, Kannika-style

2/28/06 09:00 pm - Maraming namamatay sa maling akala--pero ako, hindi

I'm sorry, Brownman Revival, I do like you, but I like the original better.

And killing me softly with your, er, revival, we'll see about that (even though this song is also a revival of the Roberta Flack original, never mind).

I love your band, sure, but, really, who did you think I was?

I've seen parallels with Fiona Apple and Shakespeare's Hamlet:

Fiona Apple: I don't go to sleep to dream.
Hamlet: Ay, there's the rub, for in that sleep of death what dreams may come.

Like I said here, go on, kill me with your cover (I liked you better back then, live, by the way), be kind to me, or treat me mean. I'll make the most of it, I'm an extraordinary machine.

Fine. I just don't want to sing this, not just yet. But oh, ok, if I do, just play a decent song.

Let me live, so please stop covering E-heads songs. No need for tribute just yet. Ely's still alive.

O Suzy!

2/9/06 09:01 pm - Expat turned killer

I never would've imagined myself entertaining such thoughts. At worst, I'm a vagabond, but not a murderer. But I've managed to amass airplane utensils, even though most of them are plastic in preparation for this. I can't stand going around the world, knowing that foreigners know my root country for her large collection of shoes.

1/30/06 07:25 pm - Excuses

It rained for several days whenever we planned doing this.

And because of the no speaking fiasco, I was confused how to execute this in class.

Can I just say I'm too shy to approach people for this one--though I would still really like to do it in the future.

And oh, I'll just be honest: I didn't have enough material for this.

1/29/06 06:47 pm - Becoming older

I guess this is one operation I can't avoid doing, huh?

Thanks, Fiona Apple for coming up with this song, particularly these lines:

1/25/06 12:46 am - Tree-huggers, being scientific and all

See, it has something to do with chakras and stuff, so why the hell am I postponing it? Stress-reliever? Won't I depress the heck out of a tree? hehe

1/25/06 12:30 am - Tree-huggers, real stories

Here is a gallery full of people hugging (or trying very hard to) trees. Maybe if I were in a real tree park, I wouldn't mind going bonkers over trees like this. haha (excuses)

1/24/06 11:54 pm - Tree-huggers, real stories

Oh no, please do not try this ... ever.

1/24/06 11:35 pm - Tree-huggers, real stories

This is one of the tree-hugging stories I've read so far that has really touched me. I don't care if the pictures are not too spectacular; I loved how the writer described the experience as something religious. And yeah, why would anyone want to drive on a tree?

1/17/06 09:46 pm - Speaking not allowed/aloud - somebody's take on silence

Huey-li Li, reacted to in this essay by Megan Boler of Virginia Tech University, says silencing silence is dangerous, because in effect, it "is both the signified and the signifier." But I ask, can you detect noise from notes passed around by people who have decided to become mute for a day? Notes like this one:

It's noisy and messy.

1/17/06 09:41 pm - Speaking not allowed/aloud (dapat ata may statement tayo)

Students from University of Virginia (originally) have been celebrating this every year since 1996.  Someday I'll find my own cause (something that preferably does not involve this because it's harder than I thought).

1/17/06 09:14 pm - Before sunrise song

I would've sung this had we been able to catch a more decent view of the sunSing with me!  "Here comes the sun...and I say it's all right (*singing guitar riff: tenenenenenen*)"
